Vancouver's Aarif Jamani denies accusations arising from the 2018 manipulation of County Line Energy Corp., the developer of a supposed hydroponics system. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission claims he was part of a group that made $4.7-million while secretly unloading shares of County Line amidst a paid promotion of a device called the "Grow Box 5000." (All figures are in U.S. dollars.) Promotional material claimed that the company could be the "THE HOTTEST INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY" with an "upside of 489%," but the stock was eventually worthless.
The denials from Mr. Jamani are contained in an answer that he filed on Wednesday, April 17, in federal court in New York. The document is 16 pages long, but it mostly contains generic denials. In response to most of the SEC's accusations, he "denies knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief as to the allegations" or he outright denies the allegations. Mr. Jamani does admit to some routine things, such as his age (56) and the incorporation details for some of the corporate entities that the SEC identified.
